Milan is home to the famous Gothic Cathedral Duomo. You can find it in the main square. It is the largest gothic cathedral and second largest Catholic cathedral in the whole world.

Milan has three underground/subway lines that are very reliable and safe and reach many parts of the city. It also has an extensive network of buses and trams that go where the underground doesn't reach. A ticket costs 1,500 lira. Taxis are also available and relatively inexpensive.

Established as a Gallic settlement in the early 4th Century BC, Milan also boasts an Etruscan heritage, which was sadly extinguished by the expanding Roman Empire. Christianity came to Milan around 3rd Century BC after an edict by Emperor Constantine, and by the 11th Century, Christian Milan had already evolved into the most powerful territory in Northern Italy. Its Medieval splendour is largely associated with the work of the Visconti family, who built its famous Duomo, as well as the Sforza family, under whom Milan was flourishing as a hub for science, literature and the arts

One of the world's oldest car racing circuits, Monza Formula One, is located near the city of Milan. The total capacity for the races is around 137,000 spectators now, although in the 1950s, the stands could hold more than 250,000 people.
